SPENCER MUSIC STUDIO, LLC
A BIT ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Erin Spencer. I live in Briargate with my husband, Matt, our two young sons Lincoln and TJ, and our two cats. I believe that through learning music, students have the opportunity to enrich their lives through self-expression, building connections with others, and using their creativity while also learning valuable real-world skills such as critical thinking, public speaking, and persistence. One of my favorite parts of teaching lessons is looking back with students to discover that a skill that used to be hard is now easy!
I earned my Master of Music Degree in Flute Performance and my Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the University of Missouri where I studied with Professor Alice Dade. During my time at the university, I performed flute and piccolo with the top performing ensembles including the New Music Ensemble. As the flutist for the New Music Ensemble, we premiered dozens of works as well as performing highly regarded works by living composers. I also performed with the Missouri Symphony, the Columbia Civic Orchestra, and in numerous community theatre musicals. In addition to private teaching, I coach flute at Liberty High School and Cheyenne Mountain High School and serve as the President of the Pikes Peak Flute Choir.
LESSONS I PROVIDE
FLUTE LESSONS
Whether you are brand new to flute, looking to push your skills, or struggling to keep up in band, I can help! I teach ages 9 and up and enjoy teaching all abilities. I have taught many beginners on flute, and have coached high schoolers to successful solo and ensemble performances as well as college auditions. I specialize in incorporating technology and individualizing lessons for each student's needs. I love helping to solve problems in their playing, improving performance ability and understanding of music.
Erin is an excellent music teacher, and my kids just love working with her! My oldest takes flute from her and my youngest takes piano. They have come so far in the past couple of years with Erin. We will miss her!

PIANO LESSONS
The piano is such a wonderful instrument, and an excellent choice to start anyone's musical education. Piano lessons are available for ages 5 and up. I work with my students to be independent in their musical learning - the goal is that they eventually won't need me at all! This involves becoming confident with reading the notes on the page, as well as playing selections from a wide repertoire. My piano students also have opportunities to play with my flute students, especially when siblings are learning together.
